Dedication

It seems that just about every dog that I’ve ever had the pleasure of caring for was unwanted in some way until it found us.

Cyndi, the black mini-poodle who lived with me for 18 years, was about to be abandoned in a park when my mom stopped the woman and took in the dog.

Gracie, the German shepherd, was tossed from a moving vehicle at the tender age of 9 weeks.  She survived the toss and the malnutrition. Gracie was a sweet girl who loved her grandma and mom. She lived to the tender age of 12 before succumbing to cancer.

Finley, the original big red dog, was a golden retriever. He was one of a litter of nine from an arranged backyard breeding situation.  The woman never expected that her golden female would have nine puppies. We bought Finley for $100, saving him from being taken to the shelter.  Our friend bought Finley’s sister, Kelly.   Finley was the best dog ever.

He was my nephew’s best buddy, and it wasn’t uncommon to see the little guy curled up on the floor right next to Finley taking a nap.

Finley passed away on January 24, 2009 at the age of 14 ¾. He would have been 15 on March 19.

This one’s for them and all the others like them. May they all find a loving forever home.
